The Lord can heal hearts and heal our broken relationships.
I experienced a painful trial; so hurtful it knocked me to my knees and required full relinquishment to the Lord! My first reaction was to cut this person out of my life. It had been an unprovoked verbal attack and it devastated me. As her tirade echoed in my mind, day after day, my very sweet granddaughter Loren, who had always been so kind to me, unleashed a series of hurtful texts.
When I came back at her in my defense, I immediately heard the Lord say, “Don’t argue with a child” (hence, she was 22 years old). So I just ignored her text messages. Granted, my granddaughter was born with kidney disease and was on a new medication that was causing her to be extremely aggressive!
One morning during my devotional time, I read Isaiah 50:4-5, “The Sovereign Lord has given me His words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he awakens me and opens my understanding to His will…” I knew what He was referring to, and who He was talking about, and what He wanted me to do! Zechariah 10:6 says, “I will restore them because of My compassion.”
After that, I reached out to Loren, talked to her, prayed with her, and even sent her gifts. The Lord began healing my heart and healed our relationship! WE NEEDED RESTORATION. We couldn’t proceed without Him. It was by the power of the Holy Spirit that HE healed our relationship!
Several months later she came to visit me. It would be the last time I saw her, to love her, to forgive her. She died a week later. If the Lord had not done this work for us - we would have missed out on the JOY OF RESTORATION!
As I prepare to close, know that we are His Daughters of Grace. Know that our Lord is very active in our lives. He loves us so much and He desires to lead and guide us through every hurt and trial.
He equips us to RISE above our worst experiences. He knows our beginning from our end. He gives us victory when we obey His Word. And He refreshes our spirits, and blesses us with the joy of restoration.
