God helped me see that praying friends are really the best buddies.

“Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.”—Proverbs 17:17 (MSG)
They say everyone has a best friend. But what if you don’t? There were seasons in my life when I had no best friends. I did have good friends, but they all had their own inner circles of best friends, so it felt like I was on the fringes of friendship.
However, as I grew older, God helped me realize that His Son (Jesus Christ) was truly my best friend for life. Jesus is my truest friend who will never leave me (Deuteronomy 31:6). He hears me out and gives the best advice. Jesus cares about every detail of my life and soothes my soul.
In recent years, God helped me see that praying friends are really the best buddies. Looking back over my young adult years, I can see how God orchestrated relationships with people who not only genuinely love Him, but truly love and pray for me. I know that when I need prayer support, I can reach out and they will send up prayers right away. I cherish these people so much and as believers in God, we truly are friends forever.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we will one day enter Heaven and live together in the Presence of God for all eternity. The song “Friends” by Michael W. Smith so beautifully portrays this truth that we as Christians should hold onto and treasure.
If you already have best friends, that is wonderful! But always put Jesus first as your most faithful, forever friend. If you don’t have friends who believe in God and will pray for you, I encourage you to ask God for those relationships and trust Him to send those people into your life. There is power in praying friends.
Always remember: God loves you with all His Heart. You can trust Him. Even when our closest friends disappoint us, He will never fail us.
