Whatever your call, walk in it boldly!
Adonai, God, said, “It isn’t good that the person should be alone.
I will make for him a companion suitable for helping him.”
~Genesis 2:18 CJB
If you have ever received much needed help, you understand the value of that relief. Suitable help can accelerate your destiny and catapult you into advanced dimensions of God’s grace. As I have studied the nuanced meanings of help or to help, I have connected with one definition in particular from Webster's Dictionary and it means “to assist; to succor; to lend means of deliverance.” The very word “deliverance” resonates within my soul.
As a child and teen, I found myself serving as a helper in church and with friends and family. As I grew into adulthood, I began to separate from that natural bent and move on to a myriad of projects for which, I myself, needed extensive help and support. I remember a distinct encounter which began my evolution regarding the significance of help. As I talked with a pastor friend, whom I had only met virtually, she and I decided to meet in person for lunch. When we greeted each other, she immediately said, “You are a helper.” Mind you, we had never met and had not previously shared details of any callings or giftings on our lives. I was taken back, almost insulted, because my thinking was that I needed help to complete my assignment rather than me helping others. Even as a believer, I felt that my helping others was a distraction and a diminished function within the body of believers.
Yet, Father, in His loving kindness, corrected my thinking and understanding. I repented. The Holy Spirit himself is the Helper. That revelation alone reoriented me to honor the call to help.
So let me ask you a couple of questions. Are you called to help others? Are there any incorrect notions that have held you back from fully embracing that call? Proverbs 11:25 MSG reads, “The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.” The return we receive from blessing others far surpasses our outlay.
Whatever your call, walk in it boldly!
