Ministry can be wearisome, but God equipped you to withstand the strain.
The retreat was over! Affirmations filled the air. “Best retreat ever!” “Just what I needed!” “Can’t wait until next year!”
Who doesn’t desire their ministry to flourish? When we partner with God and apply His principles, we will prosper. A verse I frequently reference says, “Commit your works to the LORD [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]” (Proverbs 16:3 AMP).
What steps can one take to ensure a fruitful ministry?
Prepare for the attack...
Satan desires to hinder your effectiveness by hurling fiery darts such as doubt and discouragement. God’s armor is our defense.
Nehemiah faced opposition while rebuilding Jerusalem’s wall. When the enemy attacked, he didn’t flinch but continued working with one hand while holding a weapon in the other (Nehemiah 4:10-17).
Be diligent...
There was a believer called Dorcas who was full of good works and tirelessly ministered to others. When she became ill and passed away, Peter, who was in a nearby city, was summoned and led to the upper chamber. All the widows stood by, weeping, and holding clothes Dorcas had made. After clearing the room, Peter prayed, lifted Dorcus, and presented her alive to her friends.
Like Dorcas, wisely use your window of opportunity. She made widow’s clothes, “while she was with them” (Acts 9:39).
If you fear your ministry is dead, perhaps it’s God’s pause. Rest and wait for “Peter” to beseech God on your behalf.
Keep your joy...
“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy” (Psalm 126:5). Joy enables you to serve the LORD with gladness (Psalm 100:3). It is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10), your encourager (Hebrews 12:2), the motivator to finish your course (Acts 20:24 NLT), and your reward for faithfulness (Matthew 25:23).
Let God work...
God instilled the desire and ability to do His will (Philippians 2:23).
Ministry can be wearisome, but God equipped you to withstand the strain (2 Corinthians 12:9).
What God started; He will complete. “There is not enough darkness to snuff the light God has placed in you.”
